What "combining shipments" means
When you shop with FansBuy, each order you buy is first delivered to our China warehouse and stored there under your account. Combining shipments (also called a consolidated parcel) means we pack several of those stored items into a single international box instead of mailing each one separately. You decide which items go together, and we handle the professional repacking, weighing, and dispatch.
Why it saves you money
Most international carriers price a parcel using a "first weight" plus additional weight increments, and they add a per-parcel handling fee. Every separate box you send repeats that first-weight charge and that handling fee. By merging items into one parcel, you pay the first-weight portion and the handling fee only once, while the remaining weight is billed at the cheaper continuing-weight rate. The more separate orders you would otherwise ship, the larger the saving.
For example, three small parcels sent individually each carry their own first-weight cost and handling fee. Combined into one box of the same total weight, you drop the duplicate first-weight charges and duplicate handling fees entirely. More than just cheaper postage
Consolidation is also where our warehouse team optimizes the package itself. Because everything is opened and repacked together, we can:
- Remove bulky original shoe boxes or surplus filler to cut volumetric (dimensional) weight.
- Apply add-on protection such as reinforced packing, bubble wrap, or vacuum compression for soft goods.
- Arrange items so the box is sturdier and less likely to be damaged in transit.
- Let you pick the carrier and any value-added services that suit one shipment rather than juggling several.
Available repacking and protection options, and any small charge for them, are listed when you submit the parcel, so you can choose only what you need.
Customs: weight and quantity matter
Combining is powerful, but bigger is not always better. Customs authorities in the destination country use a parcel's total weight and the quantity of identical items to judge whether a shipment looks personal or commercial. Heavy parcels are more likely to be treated as commercial, and a large number of the same item is another common trigger. A parcel flagged as commercial faces a higher chance of duties and inspection.
Because of this, it is often smarter to consolidate thoughtfully rather than cram everything into one giant box. Spreading identical items across parcels, or keeping a single parcel within a reasonable weight, can lower the tax risk. We cannot guarantee whether any parcel will be taxed, as this is decided by local customs.
